Dear Parents,

Welcome to fifth grade in Room 5! I am delighted to have the opportunity to work with your child. This is my 5th year teaching at Niemes. I have my master's degree in Educational Technology and am excited to further your child's technology skills.

The purpose of this letter is give you some general information that will help your child make a smooth transition into fifth grade. Enthusiasm for learning and maintaining a productive on-task environment is important. In class I will talk about how we could work together to make our classroom a fun and safe place to learn. We will continue to discuss behaviors that enhance learning in the upcoming weeks.

I believe in focusing on the positive and will recognize individual children, as well as the class, when I see behaviors and work habits that are conducive to learning. If a child exhibits behaviors that get in the way of his/her learning of others, that child and teacher will work together to get them back on track.

Students are expected to come to class daily. If your child is absent they have however many days they were absent to complete their missing work. For example, if the student is absent 2 days, they have 2 days after they come back to turn in their missing work.
