Internet Safety Week

Welcome to our Internet Safety Week Page!

Please scroll down for different resources by grade and take a look at the resources on this main page.

Safer Internet Day

It is celebrated at the ABC for an entire week each year.

"Safer Internet Day 2024 will be celebrated globally on February 6th, 2024  with the theme: "Together for a better internet""(saferinternet.org).

  • Let's face it the internet is a powerful place to connect with others, but issues can occur.

  • How could we work together as a class, a school, a country or a planet to make it a better, safer place for everyone to connect?

  • Can you think of a few ideas that you as a student would be able to do to help make this happen?

  • Share them with the class.

Use the mini lessons for your grade levels to find ways to be safe online.

Here are a few videos and Resources from the people at Safer Internet to use as conversation starters.

Filter Bubbles

Filter bubbles are bubbles of information bubbles that are created based on our online habits and actions. Organisations decide what it is we probably want to view and interact with based on our behaviours and this can severely limit our view of the world, as easy access to online content not within our bubbles, may get left out. This is called personalisation and while it is nice to have online services suggest news articles, games, movies and more we may be  unaware of and missing out on so much more.

Find out how deeply you are stuck in your own filter bubble.
