'I can' checklist for Rivers:

• IDENTIFY and DESCRIBE the features of a river and its valley on an OS map using grid references (4 & 6 FIGURE)

• EXPLAIN the formation of the following river features: V-shaped valleys; waterfalls; meanders; ox-bow lakes; levées

• DESCRIBE and EXPLAIN land uses found in river landscapes including: farming, forestry, industry, recreation and tourism, water storage and supply, renewable energy

• DESCRIBE and EXPLAIN the conflicts which can arise between land uses within river landscapes.

• EXPLAIN the solutions adopted to deal with identified conflicts within river landscapes.
