N5 Spanish

Overview

The National 5 Spanish course builds on the Level 4 Modern Language for Life and Work Purpose Award and provides candidates with opportunities to continue to acquire and develop skills for learning, skills for life and skills for work. The course provides students with the opportunity to develop skills in listening and talking, reading and writing, which are essential for learning, work and life: to use different media effectively for learning and communication; and to develop understanding of how language works as well as using language to communicate ideas and information.

The areas of study are the real life contexts of Society, Learning, Employability and Culture.

Assessment

There is a combination of an internally completed Writing Assignment, which is marked by the SQA, an internally assessed Speaking Presentation and Conversation in March, and an external course assessment in May consisting of a Reading and Writing Paper and a Listening Paper.
