Design and Technology
Design and Technology provides students with the tools to understand and engage with the processes of designing, creating, and evaluating functional products. Key skills include problem-solving, critical thinking, and proficiency in using a variety of tools and technologies. Students can pursue careers in industrial design, product design, construction, engineering, and architecture, where innovation and technical expertise are paramount.
Art and Design
Art and Design encourages students to express their creativity and develop their artistic skills through various mediums, practices and thought processes. It fosters an appreciation for aesthetics and visual communication. Graduates from this area may find opportunities in fine art, graphics, fashion, interior design, art therapy, and key industries in Scotland in such as game design.
Home Economics
Home Economics is integral in teaching essential life skills that are crucial for personal development and well-being. This includes food preparation and cooking skills, knowledge of nutrition, organisational skills and time management; and childcare, which prepares students for roles in early childhood education and caregiving, it enhances their independent research skills and communication. Students could expand into career fields including the culinary arts, events management, social care, childcare, teaching, nutrition, and tourism.
