Active Schools

Active Schools is Sportscotland’s national initiative that aims to provide more and higher quality opportunities to take part in sport and physical activity before school, during lunchtime and after school, and to develop effective pathways between schools and sports clubs in the local community.

Active Schools is committed to providing a safe and inclusive space to ensure that the achievements, attitudes and wellbeing of every child and young person matters, regardless of their background, ethnicity, gender, ability or any other personal characteristic.

Delivered in Aberdeen by Sport Aberdeen’s Active Schools team, we work with all primary, secondary and additional support needs (ASN) schools in the city to increase the number of children being active.

The team are responsible for creating opportunities and encouraging all children and young people to participate in physical activity and sport.

The current Active Schools Coordinator at Dyce is Jamie Mundie. 

Currently in Dyce Primary School there are several activities that are run by staff and volunteers including:

Netball for P6 and P7 – Monday 3 – 4pm in the gym hall.

Football for P7 - Tuesday 6 - 7.30pm in Dyce Academy games hall.

Basketball for P4-P7 – Wednesday lunchtime in the gym hall.

Football for P4 – Thursday 3-4pm in the gym hall.

Rugby for P4-7 – Friday lunchtime in the gym hall.

Coming soon:

P1-3 Boccia club – days/times tbc

P1-3 multisports in the playground – days/times tbc

P3/4 Miss Hits tennis sessions – days/times tbc

If you are keen to volunteer and get involved with any extra curricular activities we are always looking to provide further opportunities for the young people in Dyce so please get in touch at ASdyce@sportaberdeen.co.uk

Active Schools have also set up a Kit for All system in the school. This is our initiative to ensure that children and young people are supported in taking part in sport and physical activity by providing them with donated sports clothing.
