In National History you will explore key themes such as War, Industrialisation and Dictators.
You will be studying the First World War from Scotland’s perspective including the Western Front and the Home Front. You will also study the Industrial Revolution in Britain and the impact it had on all aspects of daily life. Finally, you will cover Hitler and Nazi Germany in which you will study the rise of the Nazis and how they created a totalitarian state.
You will develop key skills in analysing, evaluating and researching different sources which are key skills across all curriculums.
In National Modern Studies you will learn about UK Democracy, Crime and Law in the UK and also focus on International Terrorism.
You'll learn how governments work, what influences decisions, and how laws are made. These topics will help you to understand how decisions impact people’s lives and how individuals can bring about change. You will develop key skills in developing conclusions and interpretating sources of information.
Overall, the course looks at the world today, including politics, rights, and global issues.
