The National Geography course explores the world, helping you understand the interactions between the land, people, and environment.
You'll learn about the physical features found in Glaciated Uplands and Coastal Environments. You will explore the reasons for our unpredictable Great British weather. Geography explores Human Environments, investigates Urban and Rural areas around the world alongside diving into reasons for our rising global population. You'll study climate change and global health to understand how everyone on our planet is impacted by these issues.
Geography is about understanding our world and how people interact with its many environments alongside empowering us on how we can protect our future.

History
In National History you will explore key themes such as War, Industrialisation and Dictators.
You will be studying the First World War from Scotland’s perspective including the Western Front and the Home Front. You will also study the Industrial Revolution in Britain and the impact it had on all aspects of daily life. Finally, you will cover Hitler and Nazi Germany in which you will study the rise of the Nazis and how they created a totalitarian state.
You will develop key skills in analysing, evaluating and researching different sources which are key skills across all curriculums.

Modern Studies
In National Modern Studies you will learn about UK Democracy, Crime and Law in the UK and also focus on International Terrorism.
You'll learn how governments work, what influences decisions, and how laws are made. These topics will help you to understand how decisions impact people’s lives and how individuals can bring about change. You will develop key skills in developing conclusions and interpretating sources of information.
Overall, the course looks at the world today, including politics, rights, and global issues.
