The National 5 French course allows you to learn to speak, write, read, and understand French with growing confidence, using it to navigate real-life topics such as your hobbies, life at school, future plans, and travelling abroad.
Along the way, you’ll discover what makes French-speaking countries so fascinating, from their everyday traditions to their biggest celebrations.
In S3, you’ll also have the chance to gain the SQA Languages for Life and Work Award, giving you a recognised qualification as you progress. Choosing French is a brilliant way to sharpen your communication skills and connect with people and cultures far beyond Scotland. The National 5 Spanish course gives you the chance to develop your ability to use Spanish in practical, meaningful ways. You’ll learn to speak, write, read, and understand the language, building up your skills through the study of everyday themes, from what you do in your free time, to life at school and planning trips abroad. You’ll also get a window into the diverse cultures of the Spanish-speaking world.
In addition, in S3, you’ll have the option to work towards the SQA Languages for Life and Work Award, adding an extra qualification to your achievements.
Spanish is a highly rewarding subject that builds skills you’ll use far beyond the classroom (such as memory, creativity and problem-solving skills) while teaching you to communicate with confidence and resilience in a foreign language.
