Advanced Higher

Course Overview

The aim of the Advanced Higher History course is to acquire an in-depth knowledge of historical theme. Students also develop their analytical and evaluative skills as well as ability to reach conclusions. In addition students will also be required to undertake the planning, research, preparation and presentation of a dissertation on a defined historical issue relating to their field of study.

The field of study is:

‘’The House Divided':  USA 1850 – 65 ‘’. 

This is a study of causes, course and consequences of the American Civil War.
