Course Overview

The course provides opportunities for pupils to initiate and develop their own ideas graphically. It allows them to develop skills in reading and interpreting graphics produced by others using current British Standard conventions.  Pupils continue to develop graphic awareness in often complex graphic situations which increase their visual literacy.

The course has two mandatory units these are: 2D Graphic Communication and 3D & Pictorial Graphic Communication.

Assessment Methods

The assessment comprises of two components. 


Component 1

Question paper 90 marks (64%)


Component 2 

Assignment 50 marks (36%)

National 5 Graphic Communication

Further Education eg HNC/D or degree courses in Graphic Design, Game design, Product Design, Architecture, Engineering related courses etc.
