Course Overview

Throughout the study of Geography at S2, young people will develop their understanding of the world by learning about other people and places; they also increase their understanding of the physical environment and the various processes shaping it. Within Geography there are three key areas of study;


Human Geography: this unit develops knowledge of human activities and their influence on the landscapes and environment around us. The topics studied include: Population & Globalisation.


Physical Geography: within this unit, processes which shape and form our world are explored. The topics studied include: Glaciation & Mapwork.


Global Issues: contemporary issues are covered within this unit, incorporating the world and the interactions between people and the environment in which they live. The topics studied include: Health, Environmental Issues and Environmental Hazards.


Pupils will also develop and use many geographical skills such as mapping, research and fieldwork.
