Instructions on how to complete these required forms: video, slides, and written instructions.
AUDITION FOR CAST!
Our cast members are storytellers who bring characters to life on stage.
Through acting, singing, and dancing, they transport audiences into the world of the play, connecting emotion, movement, and music in every scene.
All experience levels are welcome to audition, but we do ask students to be prepared to think of theatre as a team sport! Every cast member matters and helps to shape the show, and each student’s presence, focus, and commitment are essential.
Cast members will rehearse regularly on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings from September through the performance dates in November.
Cast members are responsible for learning choreography, music, and memorizing lines, as well as collaborating with their peers to prepare for performance.
Students should be prepared to spend time outside of rehearsal practicing their materials.
Cast members are expected to volunteer for lunch hour box office shifts. The cast is required to attend all rehearsals, Tech Day, all tech/dress rehearsals, performances, and Strike.
Students interested in cast are expected to closely review the rehearsal schedule with their home adults, and consider their extracurriculars, work schedule, class load and other activities and responsibilities in order to provide detailed scheduling conflicts on their audition form.
The Directing Team encourages students with scheduling questions to reach out before auditions. We are often able to work around scheduling conflicts, but we can only help if you reach out to us first!
Students interested in cast must be able to attend Tech Day, all tech/dress rehearsals, performances and Strike in order to be cast in the show.
PRIOR TO AUDITIONS
Students interested in being Cast should:
Sign up for auditions on the theatre board (located outside the backstage doors near the John St. doors)
Pick up a Participation Packet in the office or print one from The Callboard.
Review and complete the Participation Form and Agreement with their home adult
Review the Audition Song List and prepare a 32-bar cut (about 1 minute) of one of the listed songs
Students must bring their signed and completed Participation Form and Participation Agreement to Cast Auditions.
AUDITIONS
On September 9th, students should arrive at the auditorium by 5:00PM.
Auditions will consist of:
A brief group meeting with Directing Staff
A group dance call with the Choreographer
Closed individual auditions where each student will have the opportunity to perform their chosen song.
Students will be released once their audition is complete.
After auditions, students will receive an email regarding callbacks on Saturday, September 13.
CALLBACKS
All those auditioning should plan to attend callbacks on Saturday, September 13 at 9:00AM. Callbacks will be by email invitation only.
Please note: Not all students will be invited to attend callbacks, as some roles will not require a callback. All students should still check their email for the Production Roster (cast, crew & pit list) on Saturday, September 13.
Callbacks will consist of singing from the show itself. Callback materials will be shared in the invitation email.
One of the best ways to prepare for callbacks is to get familiar with the show ahead of time!
AFTER AUDITIONS & CALLBACKS
Students will receive access to a Google Doc containing the the Production Roster (cast, crew & pit list) via email and Remind on Saturday, September 13.
All students are required to initial the Google Doc to accept their role or position.
All Students should plan to attend Orientation (First Rehearsal) on Monday, September 15 at 5:30PM
Please note: In the past, cast members have occasionally also participated in Build Crew or Costume Crew. However, due to the significant time commitment required for both Cast and Crew students and the increase in overlapping schedule times for both departments, students will be asked to choose either Cast or Crew participation for each production.
Cast students may still choose to contribute additional hours to the production by volunteering during Build and Costume Days.
