Alternatives to Animal Testing

Many people seem to skim past the tragedies that happen because of the results of animal testing, because they think that there are no alternatives to it. Actually, scientists have finally found some replacements to animal testing that have a higher accuracy rate than animal testing. People need to open their eyes and see the many possibilities for testing products in the future.

How are these better?

Many people do not think that alternatives are even necessary and that they will not compare to animal testing because we have used it for so long. That is total fiction.

The accuracy rate for animal testing is 75 percent, whilst the accuracy rate for s computerised simulation is 95 percent accurate. This is amazing because no animals will be harmed and it is even safer to use these products.

The United Nations is a world body. They have made sustainable goals for peace (this is the link to the sustainable goals). The goals that Paws Protection League support that are in common with the UN sustainable goals are life on land, responsible consumption and production, and reduced inequality.

Since animal testing has been the cause of death and suffering for many animals, with these alternative test methods, laboratory animals can finally be free from suffering and death. Scientists no longer need to feel bad for hurting animals and have a higher success rate in predicting negative reactions for humans. This means less pain and suffering for animals and humankind. A win for everybody!

Replacements for animal testing.

People have finally found out how to make alternatives to animal testing. These will change our lives forever.

This is a chip that simulates our lung system perfectly. They connect to others like these to become a full working system so people can know more about lung cancers and how to treat them.

This is a copy of the human skin made in a lab by the company L'Oreal. They use this to test their skincare products on it to see how our skin in real life would react. There are also many different versions similar to this made by other companies as well.

There are some people that choose to be tested on, these are called Human Volunteers. They volunteer to be tested on and sometimes get paid for doing so. It makes the result even more accurate.

There is a small device that is used to simulate some of our organ's reactions to some toxins and other elements. This helps find out what will happen if they enter our body. This is a variation of the lung-on-chip accept it specialises on diseases in different organs.

How do people find these new ways?

These new tests seem miraculous, however they have been painstakingly created by scientists. They required a hypothesis, testing, and trial and error to find these new ways.

First, they have to apply their knowledge about biology and engineering to see how the body would react to certain things and how to simulate them. What materials would be able to mimic a reaction like our bodies do, where to put it so it could work most efficiently, how could this be better than animal testing? These are the questions they ask to attempt to get an answer.

Next they plan out how to create their device. This part takes a lot of trial and error because once you create it, it could be different than your thinking process. Each fail they need to find out what went wrong and how to change it to make it right. Once the scientists have a successful tested a new technique several times, that protocall is saved

The scientists need to repeatedly check if the product works safely on humans. They must be certain that a product is safe before selling it and causing potential harm. Many products include chemicals, that could cause illness or severe reactions that not only hurt the consumer, it could also bankrupt the companies that sold the product.

These replacements that we have made or discovered will help animals all around the globe to be in a safer environment and for us to be sure that we are using products that will help us, not harm us.
