Higgins Lake is a large recreational and fishing lake in Roscommon County, in the U.S. state of Michigan. The 9,900 acre lake is known for its deep, clear waters and is the 10th largest in Michigan with a shoreline of 21 miles. It is named after Sylvester Higgins, the first chief of the topographical department of the Michigan Geological Survey.

Lake Huron

Lake Huron is one of the five Great Lakes of North America. It is shared on the north and east by the Canadian province of Ontario and on the south and west by the state of Michigan in the United States. The name of the lake is derived from early French explorers who named it for the Huron people inhabiting the region. The Huronian glaciation was named due to evidence collected from Lake Huron region. The northern parts of the lake include the North Channel and Georgian Bay. Across the lake to the southwest is Saginaw Bay. The main inlet is the St. Marys River, and the main outlet is the St. Clair River.

Au Sable River, Iosco County

The Au Sable River in Michigan, United States runs approximately 138 miles through the northern Lower Peninsula, through the towns of Grayling and Mio, and enters Lake Huron at Au Sable. It is considered one of the best brown trout fisheries east of the Rockies and has been designated a blue ribbon trout stream by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources. In French, au sable literally means "at the sand." A 1795 map calls it the Beauais River.

Huron Manistee National Forest, Oscoda County

The Huron–Manistee National Forests are two separate national forests, the Huron National Forest and the Manistee National Forest, combined in 1945 for administration purposes and which comprise 978,906 acres of public lands, including 5,786 acres of wetlands, extending across the northern lower peninsula of Michigan. The Huron–Manistee National Forests provide recreation opportunities for visitors, habitat for fish and wildlife, and resources for local industry. The headquarters for the forests is in Cadillac, Michigan.

Beach in East Tawas

Located on US-23, East Tawas. The beach in Tawas City includes a pavilion, children's play equipment, picnic area with grills, and gazebo. The water and beaches of Tawas Bay are perfect for all kinds of recreation. The bay is perfect for sailing, paddling, fishing, power boating, wave runners, and is recognized as a premier kiteboarding destination. A gradual dropoff from the beach to the bay makes it a fantastic family beach with lots of room for kids of all ages to play, picnic, and relax.

Saginaw Bay and Watershed

For sixty-five years, four generations of lighthouse keepers and their families lived at Old Mackinac Point Light Station. A point in the storm and a guiding beacon since 1889, Old Mackinac Point Lighthouse helped passing ships navigate through the treacherous waters of the Straits of Mackinac. Their devotion to duty helped ensure the safety of vessels in the Straits of Mackinac. The lighthouse complex included a tower and attached duplex, fog signal building and storage barn.

State Street Bridge, Cheboygan

The Cheboygan Bascule Bridge, also known as the State Street Bridge, is a double-leaf bascule bridge in Cheboygan, Michigan, carrying U.S. Highway 23 (State Street) across the Cheboygan River. Built in 1940, it was the last bascule bridge constructed in the state of Michigan prior to the end of World War II. It replaced an aging swing bridge built in 1877. The bridge is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Bay City Train Station

The Bay City Station of the Pere Marquette Railway, also known as The Depot Building, is a former railroad depot located at 919 Boutell Place in Bay City, Michigan. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

45th Parallel, South of Alpena

South of Alpena and north of Ossineke, the M-23 highway skirts a large sandy marsh on the edge of Lake Huron's Thunder Bay. At about halfway along the marsh there is a plain highway sign on the east side of the road.
