What is an Education Development Plan (EDP)?
An EDP is a student's digital portfolio showing career interests and future goals. AAPS uses a program called Naviance to keep track of the development of the EDP between grades 6-12. A complete EDP is a requirement for graduation from high school, and students will build upon their EDP each school year beginning in 6th grade.
Each grade level has a variety of assigned required tasks for the student to complete with their counselor. Tasks will ask students to complete inventories, surveys and goal-setting activities to encourage self-exploration, identity formation and future planning. Students will identity current interests, values and strengths and begin to connect those aspects of identity to future career goals.
Kelly will be visiting 6th, 7th and 8th grade classrooms this winter and spring to work with students on completing their grade level EDPs. Student presentation materials will be uploaded to this page following the classroom visits.
