Homework Expectations

Does your child have an established after school routine? Without any set expectations, it is hard for a child to remember what he or she is supposed to accomplish between the end of the school day and bedtime. Structure is needed to achieve consistent effort and results. Establish a system to follow and stick to it.

Check your child’s backpack daily. Sit down together. Remove the contents of your child’s blue folder. Discuss each of the items (i.e., homework assignments, completed/graded assignments, and important notes from the classroom or school office).

The blue folder is not to be used for storage. A cluttered folder contributes to disorganization. What will be done with the papers that are not being returned to school? Make a choice. Treasure? Recycle? Decide what works best for you and your child. Your support is much appreciated.

Check each of the subpages listed under the "Homework Expectations" tab for detailed information about each subject area.
