We made a slideshow! Each kid created a slide about themselves. You'll need to be logged in to an AAPS account to see the slideshow.
On October 4th, we were visited by AAPS Environmental Educator Dave Szczygiel. He led our class through activities around our school playground and discussed connections between large precipitation events, stormwater management, the local watershed, and the erosion problem on our upper playground. This year for PLTW, we are participating in the Computer Science for Innovators and Makers program. Computer Science for Innovators and Makers teaches students that programming goes beyond the virtual world into the physical world. Students are challenged to creatively use sensors and actuators to develop systems interacting with their environment. While designing algorithms and using computational thinking practices, students code and upload programs to microcontrollers that perform various authentic tasks. The unit broadens students' understanding of computer science through meaningful applications. Click here for pictures (there aren't a lot at the moment, but we'll keep adding more!). You'll need to be signed in to an AAPS account to view the pictures.
