The piece "Baseline Perfection" attempts to communicate the feeling of always being a few steps behind the baseline. I have danced for a great portion of my life and when you dance it becomes a key part of your identity. This is because it is not only exercise but an art form. In dance there is a preconceived notion that in order to be adequate you have to be thin. This piece aims to communicate these self esteem strings that dancing may come with.

I have always related to Alice from Alice In Wonderland because I myself would get stuck in my head and daydreams. I chose Alice to be the center of attention the question everything prompt because Alice goes through an entire world in which left is right and everything she knows about the world changes.
Inspiration: I was heavily inspired by the Disney fine art collection and took the composition of Michelle st Laurent's piece and then used my art style to alter proportions and transform the semi realistic piece into a 2-dimentional traditional storybook design used in older Disney animation.
Materials: Watercolor, Pen
One of my favorite stories as a kid, was the myth of the selkie. The selkie is a character in Celtic mythology. A selkie is a shape-shifter who can move between human and seal. In traditional mythology a selkie needs a seal skin coat in order to transform. Celtic culture is something that inspires my artwork and my way of life everyday.
Materials: fabric, embroidery floss
This piece was created with a cross stitch method. I decided to use this method because of how closely cotton fibers are related to nature and the earth. I used this cotton to create an image of flowers in a watering can. I chose this image to replicate because of how a watering can is man made while flowers are from nature. I thought this could represent how even in the most man made environments, nature always finds it's way through.
This piece was created using mixed media and collage. My inspiration for this style of art was the "Split!!! Fanzine" which was created by my dad's close friends in college. I decided to make the center of my focus on Obsessive Compulsive Disorder because it is a widely misunderstood disorder. I have struggled with obsessive compulsive disorder since I was 10 years old. Ironically this project took a long time for me to complete because I had to keep rewriting passages, and planning spreads till it felt "just right".Â
