*Also, for some reason some of my ink art photos aren't downloading properly, and some images are slightly distorted. I can also email the direct photos for the affected photos if need be.
Negative And Positive Space.
I chose to do my identity project like this because I wanted to to show that identity is made up of a lot of things, memories, experiences. So I wanted to make it kind of like photos hung up on a wall.
While doing this piece I thought over the question that has sparked so much discord. "What is art?" So what really is art? I don't think everyone could fully agree on one answer, though my favorite is; Art is just taking part of creating something. So anything and everything can be art in the end, cause thats what arts about.
This is one of my personal favorite still lives. It's one i've redone in a few mediums, my first take was the straight-from-life original still life, done in oil pastels. I would say for sure that this one is much better than my skills when I drew these oranges the first time, even with the downloaded photo a tad distorted.
Beetles are one of my favorite things to draw, and to see how ive improved on past beetles to now is amazing. Though beetles are sorta wobbly creatures, so no matter how you draw them, I feel like you draw beetles right. As account of my love for drawing beetles and other spindly bugs, they made the perfect subject for my nature project.
My artist was Alexandre Cabanel, and my painting was the fallen angel. This is one of my all-time favorite paintings, so it made an obvious choice for a drawing in my style. I absolutely adore how this came out, though I've really got to start keeping track of how long I work on these. This drawing has over 10 hours of work in it.
I choose to do an ink still life for my free project, and I love seeing how much more my art improves by drawing from life, and its something I want to start doing more often.
