Q: When does the 2020-21 school year begin?
A: AAEC will begin distance instruction on August 17th, 2020. Students will follow their daily schedule and join their classes synchronously using Canvas and virtual meeting software. Updates as to when regular teacher-led in person instruction will begin are forthcoming pending guidance from local health authorities and the Arizona Department of Education.
Q: What will be required of a student to participate in synchronous distance learning?
A: A computer or other device with internet access which has a microphone and speakers. You will also need to be able to sign into your school-provided Canvas and E-Mail accounts. It is highly encouraged that you use the Google Chrome browser to ensure all sites/documents load and work correctly.
Q: What expectations will students need to abide by while they are participating in distance learning? (e.g., dress code, behavior, language etc.)
A: Any student participating in any school organized function or class must adhere to the same expectations and requirements as presented in the student handbook just as they would be expected to if they were on school grounds in person. Failure to do so may result in disciplinary action of the student.
Q: How do parents and students stay up to date with the most current information about school policies, procedures, announcements and updates?
A: Be on the look out for regular emails and physical mailers from the school office. Many times more immediate information will be provided via InTouch phone messages and email.
