Voter Registration Eligibility: Must follow this criteria:
Citizen of the U.S.
Resident of the county or political subdivision
At least 17 and 10 months
Not been determined by a court as being mentally incapacitated or partially incapacitated without the right to vote
Not been convicted of a felony (you may register to vote only after you have completed parole)

The Texas Election Code mandates that the principal of each public and private school in Texas must offer voter registration applications to eligible students at least twice per school year.
Many high schools in Texas are not aware about this code and therefore are not in compliance with the state. AACT has been working every year to make sure all high schools in the RGV are in compliance with this code.
