Chris's Question Corner
Story by Chris Craft
New and coming to the Observer! Do you have a question that just takes too long to answer? Well I have time and an interest in the mundane, ask away!
Every week; a few questions will be picked (depending on how hard the question is) and I’ll dig into it way more than necessary. Ever wondered how a car switches between hot and cold air? How about where words like onomatopoeia come from? I have no idea, but if you ask I’ll find out. If the question doesn’t have a definitive answer I’ll find the most popular ones or give my very “professional” opinion. I’ll answer any questions I find interesting or strange but do keep it appropriate.
I can be reached at cc2941@gmail.com at any time or fill out the form found here: https://forms.gle/c342JiGj7JRmkqPy5. This offer extends to both students and readers in the community. If you do me the favor of asking a question, please feel free to tell me if you would like to be anonymous or not. This column will continue for the foreseeable future so if you have a question… send it to the corner.

David Bowie, Patrick Swazye, John Stamos, Brad Pitt… What do these celebrity names have in common? All of them wore the same hairstyle which later became part of their identity. The mullet, a simple hairstyle combining business and party that dominated the 80s & 90s and has begun to take over again.
The pioneer of mullets in Alfred Almond was class of 2023 graduate Hunter Smith who took the risk a couple years ahead of the wave. Many students can be seen rocking the cut; Jonas Lockner, Brogan Donlon, and Peyton Barnes to name a few. The mullet's newfound popularity is attributed to the Covid 19 quarantine when many people let their hair grow out and tried new hairstyles that required less maintenance.
Adopting the hairstyle may seem like a big leap, but for some students it's worth the risk. Inspired by his favorite stand up comedian, Theo Von, junior Jonas Lockner decided to take a trip to the barber shop early this school year. “I was nervous at first but now that I've had it for a while I definitely don't regret it.” Jonas’s decision to get a mullet affected more than himself. “He inspired me to get one” says Brogan Donlon. It's exciting to see more and more students sporting such a unique hairstyle, especially because it is a flashback for many of the teachers at Alfred Almond. For those who are on the fence about getting a mullet, you’ll never know how it'll look until you take the risk.
