Service Learning

Service-learning is an instructional strategy that combines meaningful service to the community with curriculum-based learning. Students improve their academic and civic skills by applying what they learn in school to the real world and then reflecting on the experience to reinforce the link between their service and their learning.

Requirements

MSDE requires each student to complete 75 hours of student service-learning which includes preparation, action, and reflection as a high school graduation requirement. In Anne Arundel County, all Service- Learning hours are infused into classes from Grade 5 through Grade 11.

Specific Crofton Middle School Information

Service-Learning at Crofton Middle School includes 30 hours of curricular integrated action. Your student will engage, plan, act, and reflect specifically through the projects noted below to ensure this graduation requirement is completed.
