NOTE: any student who takes the AP United States Government Exam will be exempted from the MCAP Government EOC Assessment in May.
Some general logistics about AP Testing:
With a few exceptions, all AP testing will occur in the Auditorium. If your student is one of those that these exceptions apply to (extended time testing, overflow from AP US Government and AP English 10 w/ Seminar), Mr. Lipton will reach out ASAP.
Students taking a morning exam should try as best they can to arrive by 8:00 if they have a ride to school. If your student rides a bus, please have them head to their testing location as soon as they are dropped off.
Students taking an afternoon exam should arrive to their testing location no later than 11:45 am. If you can get a ride to school to service an 11:45 arrival you may do so (see the last items for more information on this). But if you cannot get transportation to school at this time, students are expected to arrive at the normal time and attend class before heading to their exam.
FOR AFTERNOON EXAMS: please understand that afternoon exams will NOT end before the bell rings, so students will not be able to ride the bus home on those days. Make sure you arrange transportation on those days.
Please be sure your student brings their fully charged device (Chromebook or Laptop) to school on testing day. It is very important that students charge their devices fully, as given the size of some AP exams there might not be the option to charge your device.
College Board is very strict about the possession/use of electronic devices during AP exams. Much like with the PSAT or SAT, if any student is caught in possession of an unauthorized electronic device (cell phone, ear buds, Smart watches, Google lenses) they will be immediately dismissed from the exam, their score will be canceled, and no makeup opportunity will be allowed.
Please understand that this electronics restriction is in place for the entirety of testing. This includes during the scheduled break times including bathroom breaks.
All AP test-takers will need to log in to Bluebook on their device using their College Board (AP Classroom) credentials. Please be sure your student knows their login information for their College Board account - if students cannot log in on test day, there is a chance they will not be able to test. If students cannot test because of login issues, a makeup exam (if desired) would incur a $40 late fee.
If students store their login information on their phones, it is recommend they also write it down on a piece of paper, since as noted previously students cannot access their phones during testing.
If students are taking back-to-back AP exams, or a morning MCAP and afternoon AP exam, it is school policy that students take both exams in the same day. Make sure to bring a snack/lunch and a drink with you if this is the case, since there will not be a very long break between exams.
As in previous years, students taking AP exams may leave early after a morning exam, or arrive late to an afternoon exam. Ms. Lawhorn will code all students excused ("SA") for the entire day if they are taking AP exams - no form is necessary.
PLEASE NOTE: if you are arriving late/leaving early, you must pre-arrange transportation since, as noted previously, students will NOT have access to their cell phones at any point during AP testing.
If students decide to come to class in the morning (for an afternoon exam) or return to class after their exams (morning exams), they may do so and the teachers will let Ms. Lawhorn know the students are present.
