As there is no cancellation fee for AP exams this year, students are encouraged to take all AP exams for which they are registered in order to demonstrate their mastery of class material as well as gain valuable preparation for college-level classes and assignments.
However, I understand that some students truly may wish to cancel their exams for one reason or another. Therefore, the CHS cancellation policy for AP exams this year will be as follows:
If you have signed up for an AP exam and no longer wish to take the test, you will cancel your exam by simply not showing up for it:
If your test is paper-and-pencil: you will simply not come to the testing location on the day of the exam.
If your test is digital: you will simply not perform the online setup for the exam and then you will not log in to the test on the specific date and time.
As of right now, there will not be a Google Form to fill out noting your desire to cancel, nor will you need to contact me regarding your decision. If things change, I will reach back out with updated information.
Once the exam period is over, your absence will be noted in AP Classroom and it will become "canceled" at that time, after which you will be issued a refund for your exams (refunds will begin being issued in June 2021).
The reason for this method of cancellation is because we at CHS do not want students to necessarily "give up" on their AP exams too early. It would be unfortunate if a student were to cancel an exam now and then, after an additional month of preparation, feel ready to take the test but be unable to do so because the ordering deadline has passed.
If you truly do not want to take your AP exam(s), that is completely understandable. However, the CHS AP team wants you to be sure you have given it your full consideration before deciding to cancel.
