Our teachers do a fantastic job at the placement classes to ensure that they are placed accordingly so that Summer Dance Intensive is a fun yet challenging experience for them.
Dancers will take 3 classes in the morning – Ballet, Modern & Jazz. There will be a 15-minute transition break between each class. Students will then eat lunch. Following lunch and activity, students will participate in their Performance Choreography block.
Students are required to wear proper dance attire for the placement classes and SDI:
Female dancers traditionally wear:
Black leotard (no patterns, sheer or plunging necklines)
Dance tights (pink, black or skin-tone - footless, stirrup or convertible only)
Pink or skin-tone ballet shoes
Male dancers traditionally wear:
White fitted dance shirt
Black dance bottoms
Black ballet shoes
Hair must be pulled back in a bun or style that secures the hair neatly off the face. For short hair (too short to be put up), barrettes are needed to secure hair back from the face.
Must have flip flops or shoes that are easily slipped on and off – no walking around school in bare feet.
If their hair is too short please secure it with a ponytail and pins to keep hair up and out of the face. However, we do ask for a bun if able.
Only studs earring are permitted for safety reasons. No hoops or dangle earrings or other jewelry is allowed.
Yes! If they need an ankle or knee brace or anything of the sorts to dance that is ok.
Your child's placement class’s location date and time is listed in the email sent from the dance office . You will receive a reminder email with this information.
Placement classes are closed and for students only. However, they will be checked in at drop off and escorted into their designated areas and brought back to the cafeteria for pickup at the end of the night.
Your dancer will be taught everything they need to perform for the teacher during the class; including a center ballet barre and a short, modern dance choreography combination.
You can check for the emails sent from the Dance Office or reference the Parent Information Packet for SDI
