Background Guide Available in Teacher and Student Resources
New for AACPS MUNC 2026, AACPS offers this manual to help advisors prepare for AACPS MUNC.
This manual includes a program and conference overview. It also explains the role of the advisor and suggestions on how to research and apply the background guides. Finally it provides teachers (and students) with a rubric for determing awards.
If you have any questions, please reach out to Sarah Poole or Jessi Pantazis.

Timeline:
Today - January 30, 2026
Department chairpersons, teachers, and/or MUN club sponsors advertise the conference. Please inform club members or students interested of the conference details and determine participants.
January 30 (or earlier!)
Club sponsors complete this participation form.
February 6 (or earlier!)
Country assignments are sent out to schools. Students begin researching their assigned country. Position papers are optional, but encouraged.
March 11
HS dais volunteers are contacted via email with information on the mandatory training at 8:00am the day of the conference.
March 27 (or earlier!)
Club sponsors complete a conference roster. This will create our roster for the conference.
April 8 (or earlier!)
Students and parents/guardians complete the required waiver and position paper submission form. In order to include maximum participation, position papers are not required. In addition to recognizing "best" and "outstanding" delegate, each committee will recognize the "best position paper" with an award. If the student wants feedback from the high school dais volunteers, please request that in the google form.
April 11
Conference Day!
HS dais volunteers must arrive at 8:00 in order to receive brief pre-conference training.
Let us know how many students you believe will participate in the conference so we can assign countries. Names of dais volunteers are also requested in this form.
Let us know who is coming and what countries they will be representing so that we can generate a conference roster.
This form serves as the student's permission slip and opportunity to submit their optional position paper.
Newsela is a great resource to pair with this activity! Locate an article and have the students participate in a flash debate on any given topic.
