Even though their diet is mostly plant-based, Ostriches are omnivores, but they still mostly eat leafy greens, flowering plants, roots, grasses, and succulents. While most of Ostrich's diet consists mostly of insects, small animals, and scavenging, keeping them from going hungry is still important. Ostriches are scavengers and eaters of animal remains left by carnivorous predators, even though they do not generally attack or chase small animals. Mice, rats, snakes, lizards, grasshoppers, crickets, and moths are among the foods that Ostriches will swallow in the wild.
