Cheetahs face several threats, including losing their prey and habitat to human activity, human-animal conflict, and illegal animal trade. Their low genetic variability also affects their ability to cope with sickness and have successful reproduction. In the past, cheetahs occupied a far larger area than they do now. They were found in a far greater number of African countries, such as Tunisia, Nigeria, and Cameroon, as well as along the Arabian Peninsula and into central India. Today, the habitat of cheetahs is only 10% of what it was a century ago because of agricultural expansion and human settlement. Since cheetahs need about 3,800 square miles of area to survive, this is a serious issue. They have less habitat, which makes it more difficult for them to hunt properly. To conclude, because of human activity cheetahs had to face many environmental changes.
