Hey, we've moved!
Applications are now being accepted for a postdoctoral position for the Professional Development of Emerging Education Researchers (PEER) program. Funded by the National Science Foundation, PEER conducts workshops and field schools for emerging education researchers and learning scientists, focusing on classically-trained STEM faculty who want to get started in education research. More information about the PEER Institute can be found at peerinstitute.org; the position will be within the School of Physics and Astronomy at RIT and housed within the CASTLE Center for Advancing Scholarship to Transform Learning.
The postdoc will serve as a member of an interdisciplinary team to:
Conduct research on the impact of PEER activities on participants' professional identity, research skills, and long-term professional trajectories
Conduct research on the needs of institutions and potential partners which might host PEER activities.
Engage as part of a team to develop new PEER curricula using a design-based research framework.
Facilitate interactive workshops for emerging researchers as part of a collaborative and supportive team.
We are especially interested in researchers with backgrounds outside of mathematics and physics, and who are interested in long-term involvement with PEER after their postdoc appointment. An ability to collaborate with others and engage in generative research ideation is strongly valued.
Candidates with PhD in discipline-based education research (DBER), learning sciences, or education with STEM disciplinary emphasis are invited to apply. ABD must have passed defense before starting. Other experience in DBER, the scholarship of teaching & learning, or learning sciences can substitute for degree if your PhD is in another STEM field.
Our team is geographically diverse; you must be located in the US (as per funding restrictions) and preference will be given to applicants who are willing to work in-person in Rochester, NY. Visa sponsorship may be available to qualified candidates.
This position is nominally full-time, and it is benefits-eligible. If you are interested in reduced hours because of personal or familial considerations, please indicate so in your materials.
