Music Library Overhaul

Over the last two years the music library has gone through a major overhaul. We used to have 21, four drawer file cabinets to house our music library which includes over 900 band works, 800 full orchestra pieces, 600 string orchestra pieces, and hundreds of solo and ensemble works. The file cabinets were distributed across three storage areas and the cabinets them selves were in various stages of decay. With the support of the Music Boosters and retired YS Police Chief John Grote we have re-purposed one of the two offices in the large music room as a music library that lives in one location. With the installation of shelves and filing music in file boxes instead of folders we have a library that feels like a library. With labels on the end of the boxes it is easy to search for a piece of music with our rifling through many drawers. In addition Mr. Mayer has created and continue to adds titles to a spread sheet that allows students and community members access to search the titles that we have in our library. Below are before and after pictures of where the file cabinets were and to where the new music library is installed.
