2014 Summer

What's growing in the garden this summer? Fourth graders planted garlic in the fall, pumpkin and basil seedlings, peas, and potato starts. All are doing well, although there is some hand-picking of potato beetles and squash bugs. Our high school helper planted onions, corn, beans for drying, sunflowers, carrots, and edamame. Cucumber plants are growing, as well as celery, parsnips, collards, cauliflower, broccoli and watermelon. The strawberries have been harvested and blueberries are on their way.

The Pee Wee Campers from the Yarmouth Recreation Camp have been visiting the garden to listen to stories, sing, plant, harvest, and investigate the garden. Here are some of the books they enjoyed:

We hope to see you in the garden soon!
