Important Information for the Senior Class

Class of 2026

Remind is an app we use to communicate information to members of the senior class.  All seniors should subscribe to the class Remind so that they do not miss important deadlines or events.  Parents are encouraged to sign up as well.

There are three ways to receive Remind notifications:

• Push Notifications:   On iPhone or Android either download the Remind app (use code @26falcons or open your web browser and go to this link: rmd.at/26falcons.  This is the preferred method if you have a smartphone.

• Text Messages:   Text @26falcons to 81010 or (252) 558-0171.

• Email:     Go to rmd.at/26falcons on a PC, laptop, or Chromebook to sign up for email notifications.

Tuesday, October 7:   Senior Meeting

Time: 10:05 AM (Flex)

Purpose of the Meeting

• Provide detailed info on how to order graduation supplies — including cap, gown, tassel, hood, and optional announcements or accessories.

• Explain individual cap & gown photos (the separate portrait used in yearbooks and announcements).

All seniors are required— Attendance ensures you understand order steps and deadlines. 

Following the meeting you must pick up a Jostens packet from your homeroom teacher. It contains order information for your Cap and Gown Unit and your Photos.

Friday, October 24: Cap & Photos for Yearbook

Mandatory Participation: All senior students, including those enrolled in Surry Community College classes and interns, are expected to attend the cap and gown photo session. These photos will be featured in the yearbook.

Time: A Remind announcement will be sent with times prior to photo day. Photos should conclude by 12:30 PM

What to Wear:

• Gentlemen: Should wear either a white dress shirt with a tie or a plain white t-shirt.

• Ladies: May wear a plain t-shirt.

Note: Only the upper body will be visible in the photo; pants and shoes will not appear.

Cap and Gown Details:

• Caps and gowns will be provided for the photo session.

• Caps are not to be worn during the photo; instead, they will be held in hand. This allows students to style their hair as desired.

Commencement Dress Requirements

  To complement the gown, each graduate must wear the following:

• A dress that does not show below the hem or above the neck of the graduation gown.

• A pair of shoes with flat or low heel. 

OR:

• A solid, white dress shirt, either long or short sleeves.

•  A long tie. No Bow Tie

• A pair of dress pants – black or navy in color. No khaki or tan. 

• A pair of dress shoes; black shoes are preferred, clean cowboy boots are acceptable.  

*No decoration of any kind may applied to the cap*

*Gown must remain completely zipped during the ceremony*

*No regalia may be worn that is not provided by Forbush High School*

If you need help obtaining clothes, please do not hesitate to see Mr. Hauser, Mr. Hutchens, Mr. Davis or Mrs. Sloan privately for assistance.

Commencement Streaming

The Ceremony will be streamed live on YouTube for guests not able to attend in person. The video will be archived on YouTube so that you may watch later. A link to the stream will be sent out via Remind prior to the Ceremony.
