Welcome to First Grade!

They may forget what you said,

but they will never forget how you made them feel

Welcome to the wonderful world of first grade learning. This website has been created to communicate our classroom activities/news and resources with you..  First of all, we have 22 first graders in our classroom. Each day we have a snack at approximately 10:30--10:45, this is a working snack break (one snack and one drink).  I am unable to provide a snack if one is forgotten so please, please remember to pack one daily.  Those little tummies certainly do get hungry during the afternoon stretch.  Please remember to write a note for any changes in dismissal plans, it gets very hectic at the end of our day( especially when a note is found at the bottom of a backpack).   Also, remind your child that they have a note packed, sometimes they can forget to give them to me in the morning when I ask for any "notes from home".  If you would like to follow up with a reminder email that would be very beneficial for me and for your child.  My first graders get excited in the morning to see friends etc. and often forget our routines and/or your notes from home.  We are encouraging them to be more responsible this year and it certainly helps them grow when they CAN do an important task. On another note, water is allowed in the classroom.  We do have a water refill station right outside of our classroom so we are very lucky to be able to refill water bottles when needed but please label them so they can be identified , especially if they're left behind. Lunch this year is free again, but milk will cost $.75.  You may also want to put money on their account if milk is something they will be buying daily.

Please contact me should you have any questions or notice that your child should have any difficulty.  I am always here to help you and your child learn together. I'm looking forward to a great first grade year for everyone!
