This is my thirteenth year teaching 4th grade at West Lafayette schools, and I'm so lucky to have my dream job! I grew up in the area, and worked as an undergrad as a reading and math tutor, before- and after-school program supervisor, ESL tutor, camp counselor, and preschool teacher. After graduating with distinction from Purdue University in 2010, I was a substitute teacher with TSC and a special education paraprofessional at then-Cumberland Elementary before getting hired with WLCSC. All of these experiences shaped the educator and person I am becoming. I am excited beyond words to be working at West Lafayette Intermediate School with such committed, passionate, creative professionals who are all working together to help each child get the best education possible!
Some things about this year that I'm excited for, professionally, include leading extracurriculars (Creative Writing Club, IMPact, WLIS Review, and starting a Theater Club!), continuing our classroom podcast for a second year (We Are Builders--get it anywhere you get your podcasts), and
On a personal note, I am the oldest of nine children, so teaching is something that has been a part of my life since before I can remember! Most of them still live in the area, so much of my spare time is spent with them. I was married for just over 4 years to my wonderful husband, Paul, before he passed away unexpectedly in the fall of 2013. I love all the arts and crafts I can try, along with reading and writing, music (I play piano and flute), watching Korean dramas and trying to learn Korean and French through Duolingo, hanging out with family playing board games and watching movies, and exploring all the local festivals and restaurants I can! You can learn a little more about me here, if you want! I love learning and the creative process in all its many forms, and that's why I wanted to teach elementary school--we get to do it all! I hope I get to teach 4th grade for years and years and years. :)
