WinCam STEAM Project

Winchester Community Access & Media (WinCAM) is working with Winchester High School (WHS) to implement a volunteer program for middle and high school students in which students will have the opportunity to learn the basics of TV studio and field production and test these skills with live productions.

These skills include planning, directing, filming and editing productions in a team environment. From there, the students will be able to use the skills they learned, along with the equipment from WinCAM studios to create a production/product of their own that can count towards earning their S.T.E.A.M. certificate.

This project will be showcased at the S.T.E.A.M. project showcase in April, and will be aired on local television via WinCAM Studios. The project is at the students discretion and they can make it about anything they may be interested in and in any format they are interested in (pending approval from Mrs. Grace and the WinCAM staff). This includes but is not limited to making a video (or video series), creating a talk show, creating a podcast, or documentary. This may also be a group project if there is a group of students interested in collaborating.

2021 Congressional App Challenge

The Office of Congresswoman Katherine Clark invites your students to participate in the 2021 Congressional App Challenge.

Every year, the Internet Education Foundation holds a competition to help inspire students to be involved in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math, as well as recognize students who have been working hard within these fields. Winning students are invited to #HouseofCode Capitol Hill Reception in Washington, D.C. along with having their work featured in the US Capitol Building and on the House of Representatives website.

STEAM Camps and Learning Programs

Engineering Innovation - Johns Hopkins University

Johns Hopkins Engineering Innovation offers a collection of specialized pre-college programs for high-achieving math and science students. This summer, we’re back with our popular in-person summer program, Explore Engineering Innovation (In-Person), at campuses in multiple locations. And for those who prefer an online option, Explore Engineering Innovation (Online) will be offered as a synchronous, class, or check out our thought-provoking Biomedical Engineering Innovation course.

Registration is now open.

The Explore Engineering Innovation course features exciting learning opportunities, including building a spaghetti bridge, programming a microcontroller, pitching a new and novel product or service, and plenty more.

Our Biomedical Engineering Innovation program gives students the opportunity to model biological systems and design experiments to test their models. Using engineering principles to solve problems that are biological, physiological, and/or medical.

Designed by trusted scientists and engineers from Johns Hopkins University, you can be sure the academic rigor and ingenuity runs deeps throughout our courses—all in a supportive and confidence-building environment.

And you can earn college credit from Johns Hopkins University*!

Watch our short video that highlights how we are reimagining engineering—one future at a time.

Join us for an online information session on Saturday, January 29 from 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm. Learn about the application process, course content, and the engaging hands-on activities during online sessions with Engineering Innovation staff and former students.

Register for the information session on Zoom.
