ATTENDANCE
If your child will be absent, please call the attendance line to report it: (847) 512-6450.
SNACK
We will have a designated time each day for snack. While it is not mandatory that you send in a snack, little ones often get hungry and need a little something to fuel their brains. If you choose to send in a snack with your child, district 39’s policy requires that it be a fresh fruit or vegetable ONLY. We ask that you please adhere to our request for fruits and veggies so that we can keep control of food allergens in the classroom. Please also note that extra snacks will not be kept on hand for those children who don’t have one. Thank you!
WATER BOTTLES
I encourage students to bring a water bottle with a snap closure to school daily. Please put your child’s name on their bottle, as many look alike. Water bottles will come home daily to be washed and refilled.
TAKE HOME FOLDERS
Your child’s take-home folder will go home every day and should be returned the following school day. This folder will contain important notes and information for you, along with completed student work. Please empty the contents of the folder daily and send it to back the following school day with your kindergartner. Feel free to tuck in any important information for me or the office when needed, such as a change in your child’s pick-up plans.
STAR OF THE WEEK
Every student will have an opportunity to be Star of the Week throughout the school year. I will send an “All About Me” poster the week before for your child to complete and then share the following Monday. This process is intended to be a fun way for families to share and put together a "timeline" of students' lives that will help them to share some special things about themselves with their classmates.
MYSTERY READER
One of the things that students look forward to most in kindergarten is our Mystery Reader program. Parents and/or other special family members are welcome to join us in person or virtually to take part in this special activity. I will plan to send a sign-up within the first few weeks of school for this, so be on the lookout!
BIRTHDAYS
We love to celebrate birthdays (and half-birthdays for those born in the summer) in kindergarten! To help make this an extra special time, I welcome parents and/or other family members to join us in person or record a video to read a favorite story and sing "Happy Birthday." If you would like, you can also send in a non-edible treat for your child to share with the class, such as stickers or pencils.
