Welcome Letter

Dear Fourth Grader,

I hope you are still enjoying your summer vacation and having lots of fun!  My name is Mrs. Dietrich and I will be your fourth grade teacher this year. I have had a great summer with my family and friends!  My family includes my husband, Mr. Dietrich, and our two sons, Jack and Connor. Connor is a sophomore in college and Jack is a senior in college. We traveled around Lake Michigan this summer.  As you can tell, we have had a very busy and fun summer!

As a fourth grader, you’ll have many special opportunities to learn and grow this year. I am looking forward to introducing you to our workshop format for reading and writing. For math, you’ll have the chance to work with other fellow fourth graders from different classrooms throughout the year. In science and social studies we will be studying energy and motion, waves and information, structures and functions, maps and globes, and innovations. A special part of fourth grade is the fun trip to Boundless Adventures in Bristol, Wisconsin in late May for Outdoor Education.  We will also go on several field trips to visit exciting places like Northwestern University in Evanston and the Botanic Gardens in Glencoe.  As you can see, we’ll be very busy this year!

I look forward to seeing you on Wednesday, August 23rd at 8:35 a.m. in Room #216. Please bring your school supplies when you come to Central that day. I am excited to meet you and am so glad you will be in my class for the upcoming school year! Enjoy the rest of your summer vacation and I will see you soon!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Dietrich
