The Wilmette District 39 Physical Education Department is dedicated and committed to increasing each student’s physical fitness and wellness. One measure of our program, new to the district in grades 3-8, is the FitnessGram Physical Fitness test administered bi-annually to students. Two years ago an improvement in technology allowed the program to calculate aerobic capacity (VO2) and Body Mass Index (BMI) based on information provided by the student’s height, weight and performance scores. Please understand that these calculations are a sample of ways to measure each student’s physical fitness and wellness. We are asking for your help and support. Please fill out the attached form as soon as possible. We understand that this information is student sensitive and will NOT be shared, nor will it have an effect on your child’s physical education grade. Please be as accurate as possible to ensure your student’s “healthy zone” is accurate. We will ask for this in the fall and spring for your child’s year score comparisons. *Students whose height and weight information is NOT received will not receive a score for their aerobic capacity test (PACER), but their laps will be recorded.
