Welcome to Central School’s Art Awareness program! The Art Awareness committee works to bring exciting extra curricular art activities to Central School each year. This program is sponsored by the PTA and led by both parents and Ms. Berngard.
Art Awareness occurs over several days or weeks. It usually requires the help of parent volunteers. Recent events have included students making traditional pieces of raku pottery, developing an environmental piece of art in the spirit of Christo, and learning about the importance of symbolism and crest during the Renaissance.

Modeling Clay Self-Portraits
I’d like to thank the parents and PTA for sponsoring Art Awareness and making the activity extra special by joining our art classes that week. I look forward to showcasing some of the work for open house in the spring.
2018-19 Art Awareness
Awareness Week - The Art of Embroidery, February 11th-15. Ms. Berngard and The Art Awareness Committee brought the traditional art form of hand embroidery into the classroom.
2017-18 Art Awareness
Last year students dove into the art of printmaking. Printmaking goes as far back as AD 105 in China when paper was invented. Printing making was and still has a major role in the art world today and is inspiration for anyone looking to explore an ancient and modern creative process. Three unique printing stations were set up in the art room. Each child had a hands on experience printing in different styles, using different techniques with various materials.
This wonderful mural was our 2012-2013 Art Awareness project.
