CDBG Program

Post date: May 24, 2020 5:38:14 PM

Andrew has been working closely with BRPC and the Chamber to understand potential applicability to businesses here. Scope is narrower than we had hoped. This is a multi-town initiative through BRPC.

I am writing to request that you post the attached public hearing notice on your town website. The notice is for a public hearing to be held in the Town of Adams, but all members of the public in Berkshire County are invited to attend.

We are very happy to announce that the Town of Adams, with the assistance of BRPC, will be applying for CDBG Covid-19 relief funds for micro-enterprise businesses located in northern Berkshire and adversely impacted by the current health crisis. As per CDBG rules, micro-enterprise business owners assisted through this funding must meet HUD guidelines as low-to moderate income persons, based on family income. We believe there are a high number of potential, eligible beneficiaries for this grant, and that those individual businesses could be located in any and all towns within Berkshire County.

CDBG requires that the posting be very detailed. In an effort to be as inclusive as possible, and to meet the very short application period and deadline, the grant application will include all 13 towns named in the posting. The NOFA was published on May 15, and the Town of Adams and BRPC staff have been working diligently since then to determine the requirements for the competitive process.

BRPC staff will be available to receive input from all towns included in the grant application through the June 5, 2020 deadline. Any community that does not wish to participate in this application is free to withdraw by contacting BRPC and/or by so commenting during the public hearing. All town officials and members of the public, from each of the towns listed, are encouraged to participate in the virtual public hearing.

Pat
