BUILDING

Cold form framing is in progress at the North Science Center.

St. Anthony Hall / CDE project is once again making progress towards completion following several weeks of remediation work due to a previous contractor having issues on the job.

Foundation are now going in at Ft. Hoosac Place, now known as Ft. Bradshaw.

A new house has been permitted and is now underway at 191 Berlin Road, Robert Smith is the general contractor.

The Fairfield Inn project at 430 Main Street is nearing completion but is continuing to experience compliance issues with various state and local codes. Due to these issues the Building Department has ordered the design team to inspect and ensure the project is complete before further final inspections are conducted by Town staff.

HEALTH

Title 5 inspections and soil evaluations continue for houses to be put up for sale, and new house building, respectively.

Well permits have been issued for new home building projects.

Retail scales are being inspected and certified for accuracy.

Chapter 2 rental dwelling unit inspections continue.

Food establishment inspections continue.

LAND USE

Planning Board meets Tuesday to continue working on several important topics. They are currently working on regulations for very long and common driveways, outdoor cannabis cultivation, and reform of non conformity rules. They are likely to take up lighting and accessory dwelling unit incentives in November.

The Con Com recently heard from Trail Crew Leader Dan Gura about the very successful summer he completed on various town and WRLF trails. Work is still underway on Berlin Mountain on signs and trails and an Eagle Scout candidate is currently rebuilding the campsite on the Class of '33 Trail.

Zoning Board had a controversial hearing in September with a proposal from Bill Pretie for a sporting goods store that will include firearm sales on North Hoosac Road. The Board has requested additional information before proceeding. They also requested additional info from Alex Carlisle on an accessory dwelling unit application. The Board also heard from Ben Greenfield to modify the landscaping at 141 White Oaks Road (Broad Brook School), this petition was approved.

The EPA Brownfield process has restarted at 330 Cole Ave. The boiler room abatement was completed this summer and DPW demolished the building and eliminated the water leak into the basement of the remaining building. Advertisement is now live for the remaining asbestos remediation and bids are being accepted for the next several weeks.
