Commencement logistics - move to Library quad

Post date: May 22, 2017 2:29:44 PM

Due to construction in and around the Science Quad, commencement this year, and for the foreseeable future, will be in the Library Quad at the center of campus. This is the area bounded by Schapiro Hall, Stetson/Sawyer Library and Hollander Hall. The stage will be set in front of Stetson Library with bleachers around the perimeter of the quad and folding chairs for the graduates in the center.

The Commencement ceremony will start at 10 a.m. A media area will be to the right of the stage (as you face it) and marked. Press packets will be available in the media area the day of commencement. See either Noelle or myself in the media area for your packet. Please be on time to the ceremony.

Another important change is the processional route to commencement. The procession will begin from Frosh Quad, off of Park Street, proceed down Park Street, then onto the sidewalk bordering Route 2 to Chapin Drive, where it will enter campus and the commencement site. The procession steps off at 9:30 a.m.

The processional will not cross Route 2, as it has in the past, due to the different location this year. Also, the recessional will not go through Hopkins Gate this year.
