Edgewood Elementary School Music/Chorus

The Music Program at Edgewood Elementary School Welcomes you to our School! 

Parents, 

Edgewood Elementary school provides a General Music class during the school day.  Each student will attend with their homeroom class once per week as listed on the Homeroom Teachers schedule .  Music class will include the Yamaha Music-in-Education Keyboard lab for approximately 1/2 of the school year.  For 2025-2026, Mr. C will continue using components of the Orff-Schulwerk system in all grades during the time period from January 5th, 2026 - End of the Year.  For the 3rd Quarter all grades will complete units involving "Instruments of the Orchestra", with an emphasis on the six instruments available to the Central Middle School Band.  During the 4th quarter,  all students will use a variety of software  to complete a unit on Composition.  Edgewood also has an auditioned after-school SSA Chorus.  It is possible that this over all plan may change based on Calendar change requirements.    This year, Music Fee's have had to be reintroduced for all 3 grades.  3rd and 4th Grade Music Fee is $5.00, and 5th grade is $10.00.   5th Grade will have Recorder instruction beginning in October thru April in place of the keyboards.  The cost for each recorder/book set is currently over $11.00 per student before tax and shipping costs.  The WHS Band Boosters funded our first three years, but were not able to do so any longer as of the 2025-2026 school year.

Documents are listed Alphabetically.   Chorus letters  will have a number at the beginning of the name.  As the school is using ClassDojo, I also send a PDF version of the letter via ClassDojo. Normally, Chorus letters will be sent home on Thursday. Please help us by making chorus rehearsal an important event in your daily schedule.
