What Is Macroeconomics??????????????

Macroeconomics studies large-scale economic decisions. For example, a whole country's economy (or, its economic output) is summarized by the GDP (gross domestic product). Many governments use macroeconomic ideas to decide how much tax to collect and what interest rates should be. An AP course in Macroeconomics is designed to give you a thorough understanding of the principles of economics that apply to an economic system as a whole. Such a course places particular emphasis on the study of national income and price determination, and also develops your familiarity with economic performance measures, economic growth, and international economics.

What is Expected of Me?????

Class participation is required in this course. Due to the difficulty nature of AP Macro, participation is heavily weighted. All students are expected to express themselves both verbally and through written word. Students are expected to read the assigned chapters PRIOR to class discussions. Skimming or only outlining will not be sufficient for this course. Reading should be done in small doses and I am available for any and all questions via email or in extra help.

Required Materials

Students are expected to have pens and pencils each day as well as a folder and 3 ring binder for note taking.

Textbooks: We have a brand new text this year and I expect the students to bring them home and keep them there. The book is very expensive ($160) and if it is lost or destroyed the student is responsible for the cost.
