Dear Westwood High School and Thurston Middle Students, Parents, and Guardians,

This page includes important information about the Westwood Public Schools 1-1 Chromebook initiative. As a result of this initiative, all students in Grades 6 - 12 will be issued a school-owned Google Chromebook that will be available to them at all times, whether at school or home.

Important information about receiving your Chromebook:

• All high school students, including incoming freshman, already have Chromebooks from the previous year. Students new to the district can pick up their Chromebook during the 9th grade open house on

Tuesday, August 28th, 9:00 am - 1:00 pm.

If that date doesn't work, students can pick up their Chromebooks at the STAT desk, located in the library, during the first week of school.

• Chromebooks will be issued to students in Grade 6 during the first week of school. Parents are being asked to attend a brief orientation session during the Thurston Open House on Thursday, August 23rd which is held from 4:30 pm - 6:30 pm. Each orientation session will last for approximately 20 minutes and will begin at 4:45, 5:15, and 5:45, respectively. Details about specific times will be included in a mailing that will go out in early August.

• Students must have a signed (parent and student) Chromebook Loan Agreement in order to receive his/her Chromebook. This document will be included in the mailing that goes out to parents in early of August. It can also be found here.

• It's also highly recommended that parents purchase optional insurance to protect against accidental damage. Information about insurance will be included in the mailing or going to the Insurance Info page on this site.
