Committee Descriptions/Chairs

Ad Sales: Solicit and keep track of program ads from local businesses.

Backstage Monitors: Chaperone actors in the dressing rooms and holding room.

Bookkeeper: Collects payments from student participants and maintains spreadsheet of ordered items (e.g. logowear, flowers, parent ads)

Boutique: Chooses items to be sold for fundraising during the show. Staffs the tables during the show.

Bulletin Board/Lobby: Decorates cast/crew bulletin board, and provides table cloths, signage and other show specific decoration for the lobby.

Concessions: Purchases drinks and snacks for sale during the performances. Staffs the concessions tables during the show.

Costumes: Works with professional costumer. Organizes and maintains the racks of costumes for the actors. Assists with acquisition and return of borrowed costumes. Assists with alterations. Members of the committee includes parents who can and cannot sew.

Flowers: Order and sell flowers and balloons at performances.

Front of House: Coordinate and supervise ushers at performances. Provides at least one member to supervise lobby during entire show for security and to seat latecomers.

Hair and Makeup: Applies makeup and styles hair of actors at dress rehearsals and performances. Depending on show’s needs, will either help with makeup design or work under the direction of a professional makeup artist.

Posters and Signs: Displays show posters and lawn signs in designated locations throughout Westport and Weston.

Program: Creates program, including formatting parent and business ads. Obtains bids for printing. Should be proficient and have access to publishing software.

Props: Procures, creates, maintains and organizes props. Must be available to attend the last month of rehearsals and work backstage during dress rehearsals and shows (Split responsibility, committee is able to be audience members for at least 2 shows).

Publicity: Drafts press releases and coordinates distribution of the same.

Tech: Supervises the 7th/8th grade tech program, assists in procurement of materials, building of sets and coordination of set movement. Works backstage during dress rehearsals and shows (Split responsibility, committee is able to be audience members).

Ticket Sales: Sets up sale with online vendor, runs all pre-sales (staff, volunteers and parents), coordinates and supervises show day sales, provides sales reports to staff, and oversees payments.
