About the librarian
I became the library media specialist at Blanchard Middle School in Westford in August 2012, but previously worked in elementary school libraries (Waltham and Groton) for 8 years, and high school (part-time) for 1. My first career was as a computer design engineer (for 13 years) and I retain more than a little technology geekiness.
I am passionate about helping youth grow into responsible and productive global citizens. I believe learning is a lifelong adventure that is most successful when you have the skills to efficiently gather, evaluate and organize information in order to build your own knowledge and understanding. My goal is to help students develop these skills in a kid-friendly environment where experimentation is encouraged and research projects are engaging and rewarding.
I have an MLIS from Simmons (2009), a BSEE from Cornell and K-12 licensure in both Library and Instructional Technology.
