Introducing and Implementing Seesaw
Our Priority Considerations For Implementing Seesaw ePortfolios:
Flip the responsibility from Teachers to Learners
Change the time-frame from six monthly to weekly.
Change the model from one way to three way
Change the model from definitive to collaborative.
Ensure Ministry requirements for Plain Language reporting and Reporting on Progress against National Standards are met
Agree minimum baseline standards and requirements
Ensure a balance between qualitative and quantitative data
Consult, collaborate and communicate with all parties constantly
Form an ePortfolio Management Committee consisting of the principal and three deputy principals
Choose 12 Early-Adopter Classes to trial an early implementation of Seesaw for the best part of six months
Early Adopter Implementation Criteria:
Seesaw will effectively reflect the learning process.
Seesaw ePortfolios enable the use of a range of media – video, sound and images – as well as text to show both the learning process and final product
Encourage and facilitate the learner’s support network to participate and provide feedback on their learning
Enhance the Quality and Quantity of Feedback via social mediums
Assist students to take increasing responsibility for their own learning
Allow students to track and demonstrate their growth over longer periods of time
Struggling students have an alternative mode of expression and means to demonstrate learning - leading to increased self-confidence and achievement
Provide Increased accessibility - for parents who cannot find time to visit the classroom to see a collection of their children’s work.
Assist in the Development of 21st century skills
Offer the opportunity to reflect on learning and make important connections amongst studies or topics, as well as make links between learning and life experiences
