About Ms. Firkus

I earned my BS/Psychology in 2012 and decided I needed to make my dream of teaching become a reality. After Graduation, I immediately enrolled in and completed my MAED/Elementary Education. Both degrees were earned consecutively at the University Of Phoenix. I graduated in November of 2014 and upon completion of Student Teaching in Washington Elementary School District, I joyously continue my dream career as an ELA/Ell Instructor at Palo Verde Middle School.

On January 28, 2016, I began a journey as a student. I enrolled at Grand Canyon University and completed a second Masters Degree in Teaching with a focus on Reading. I graduated in May of 2017. Since then I am continuing my education as a Doctoral candidate at Capella University. When I graduate in September of 2020, I will hold a Doctoral in Education/Reading and Literacy. I will continue to do what it takes to give all students the best resources and opportunity to be successful.

I was born and raised in Elkhorn, Wisconsin. Over 20 years ago I decided I wanted to live in a warm climate, so I made my way to Phoenix. I love living in the beautiful State of Arizona and love to explore Arizona's many beautiful nooks and crannies. I spent the summer traveling to and from Wisconsin and was able to enjoy our beautiful Country along the way.

My favorite candy is M&M's and if you want to know which flavor, well... it's all of them. I enjoy spending time with my friends and playing with my cat, Laura Ingalls Wilder.
